After extraction from the mine, the sulphide ore is crushed, ground with water and processed through a series of froth flotation cells and the resulting nickel and copper concentrates are dewatered, dried prior to the smelting stage. During the complex nickel refining process, many different impurities such as lead, cobalt or copper are extracted through various operations, often demanding further filtration stages. It is usual to find horizontal chamber filters or tower press filters and Clear Edge can cover your filtration needs whatever the equipment type you use.

Prior to the electrolyte solution entering the cells, it first goes through a security / polishing stage, filtering the solution to remove any
remaining impurities. This is typically carried out on chamber presses or horizontal pressure leaf filters. Clear Edge high retention filtration fabric products ensure best possible electrolyte clarity.

Each tank contains a series of alternating anodes and cathodes. Fabric selection is critical, dependent on the type of electrolyte used.
