Effective May 3rd Clear Edge was acquired by Filtration Group Corporation, a Chicago based filtration company owned by Madison Capital Partners. Filtration Group, a collection of over 10 specialized growing filtration companies, will have revenues in excess of $700 mm including Clear Edge. Clear Edge will be part of the Liquid Process Division within Filtration Group which also includes Global Filter and Jonell both specialized industrial process filtration companies.
Clear Edge will continue to be headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma and operate throughout the world focused on mining and minerals, chemical processing, wastewater treatment and bulk food and beverage markets among other specialized markets and applications. Rick Von Drehle, Clear Edge CEO, commented “We look forward to the future as part of Filtration Group. This certainly positions Clear Edge to continue to grow within its existing markets and with new products and into new geographic regions.”

Several significant changes in staffing within the US and European groups bring additional momentum to the Clear Edge growth strategy.
Curt Carstens has been promoted to Product Manager Liquid Filtration for the Americas. Curtʼs previous sales positions with Industrial Fabrics Corporation and Clear Edge provide him with an ideal base for his new role. For the past two months he has been training with Kevin Hardy and working closely with others at the Skaneateles and Moravia plants to help him prepare for his new challenge. As the outgoing Director of Liquid Products Kevin Hardy will continue to provide support as needed. After the new Tulsa plant is completed Curt, his wife Colleen and their new son Ronan will relocate to Tulsa.
Kevin Hardy has been promoted to National Accounts Manager. In his new role Kevin will pursue major OEMs and national accounts throughout the US. While we currently have strong relationships with many OEMs in the US, there are over 50 others we have targeted as legitimate prospects. Kevin has been associated with filtration sales for more than 25 years. His vast filtration knowledge and sales experience will serve him well in his new position. Kevin will work out of his home office in the Boston area.
Dr. Trevor Sparks joins us in the position of Technical Director. He will be based in our facility in Walbeck, Germany and will take responsibility for all technical aspects of our business including both the Media Development Lab as well as the Manufacturing Technical Team. Trevor brings with him a wealth of both technical and filtration experience over his extensive career where he has held senior positions within the OEM field with Outotec, at end users in the Alumina industry as well as in the field or industrial filtration process consulting. Trevor and his family will be relocating to Germany.
Jan Willem Radstaak will be joining us on November 1st as European Finance Director also based from our facility in Walbeck, Germany. Jan Willem will take responsibility for finance, IT and HR across the European businesses ensuring that we are driving all aspects of our business forward in a consistent manner. Jan Willlem is a Dutch national living close to the German border with his family and has extensive hands on senior management experience in a variety of industries and businesses.
Dr. Martina Kolb-Pieper to the position of Operations Director. Martina will take up her position and join us in Walbeck on 1st January 2013. Martina is German and comes from a strong textile background with one of her parents formerly working for Verseidag. She is currently employed as Plant Manager in a membrane filtration company part of Koch Industries a multi national privately owned US based Group. She has previously held positions with Du Pont and ICI and worked in the USA for part of her career.
As you can see we have been busy strengthening our management team to position us well as we start to plan for the implementation of our forward looking growth strategy for the group. Please welcome our new team members into their new positions over the coming months where I’m sure they will provide strong leadership and drive in their respective roles.
The high tech Clear Edge ceramic filter product “Cerafil TopKat” has been rapidly gaining market acceptance in high temperature pollution control applications such as municipal waste incineration, biowaste incineration, glass manufacturing, industrial boilers and diesel engines. TopKat , which includes impregnated catalyst, not only filters particulate but also removes NOx and Sox
in tough applications such as gasified waste streams. Richard Lydon, VP Technology & Business Development at Clear Edge reports that the ceramic filter product line is proving itself as an excellent product technology. As a result, sales of ceramic filters, both with and without catalyst, are growing rapidly.
Plant Manager Louis Letayf reported that the CE Mexico plant in Monteray has exceeded 3.000,000 total bags and filters produced. CE Mexico started production in 2007 with a small workforce and today the plant employs 50 plus employees producing high quality bags and dust filters for sale in the US and Canadian markets.
CE US General Manager Patrick Quigley congratulated Louis and the entire CE Mexico team on achieving this important milestone.
